Doing good work
Children with Cancer Fund is an incredible local charity, which has been operating from Polegate for the last 20 years. The charity was set up around a kitchen table by a supremely dedicated team of four individuals with just one goal – to allow children to be children, irrespective of their diagnosis.
During this time and despite being really quite small in size, they have helped countless local children do exactly that, providing support when it’s needed most in many forms. In practical ways, with help from purchasing parking permits to buying school uniforms and also in more fundamental and emotional ways too. For example, providing a holiday caravan to make memories in and organising days out for the whole family with other children and families who also have cancer, creating a lifeline support network.
The charity had recently moved into a ‘proper’ office when we heard of the fantastic impact and support they were having on local families from our client partner, Ansvar, who had selected the charity as the recipient of their charity donation for 2016/17.
We got in touch with Chairman, Chris Downton to offer our services in giving them a new brand identity and website to be reflective of their incredible achievements as a charity. Chris gratefully accepted our offer agreeing that: “At 18, it was time for the identity to grow up with the charity. Designate met with the team and were humbled by the passion, care and dedication of the small team that carried out this work and we were honoured to be able to help in some way.”
Kriston Reid, Creative Head at Designate, says: “CWCF are an amazing charity, the impact they have on so many young people’s lives is incredible. With limited resource and limited knowledge of digital and content management, we needed to deliver a user-friendly website that showcased the charity’s fantastic achievements. We created an easy-to-use wordpress site with a blog that allows the charity to promote their activity to the wider world. With a refreshed identity and strapline of ‘Children should be children’ the charity can now better communicate their mission and purpose.”
The new website and identity launched in December 2017 and the charity are delighted with this output and see it as the beginning of a much wider digital and media engagement programme to help keep attracting funding and bursaries.
Chairman Chris Downton says: “As a small group of volunteers, the concept of working with a company like Designate is what dreams are made of. To have our identity created, our own child is so excited for us and now I have been able to recruit more volunteers to help populate the site with all the wonderful stories we have to tell. The families are so pleased with the way it has evolved, it’s really modernised the look and feel – it feels so fresh! Thank you to the whole team, we loved working with you.”
