Brand new – Designate and The Hotel Inspector

Yes, Designate featured in last night’s episode of The Hotel Inspector. This time stepping out from behind the camera, putting not just our work in the spotlight, but ourselves too.

The production team for Channel 5 contacted us about developing brand ideas for The Sheldon Bed & Breakfast, which was to be featured in the show. Not ones to shy away from a challenge we got to work straight away.

Filming was quick – no time for bumbling words. It took place here at Designate Towers and then over in Eastbourne for the ‘big reveal’ at The Sheldon.

The project involved working with Channel 5’s production team as well as The Hotel Inspector herself, Alex Polizzi. Taking Alex’s strategic direction, we needed to create a consistent brand and identity for the family-friendly Bed & Breakfast.

We looked at how to create a useful brand toolkit for the owners. This included looking at a logo, colour palette, tone of voice, the nomenclature and the importance of applying it consistently. The creative needed to be easy to apply, have longevity and reflect the nature of The Sheldon and its owners.

We wanted to create a new logo that was also relevant to the area – using Eastbourne to inspire a colour palette of natural tones. The main focus was to refresh the signage and from there develop a range of collateral, demonstrating how the branding and tone of voice could be applied across the business and inspire visitors before and during their stay.

Here’s the branding before and the work we created.

Various branded collateral

Our development:
Clear and eye-catching exterior signage

Choice of fun door hangers for different audiences (families and couples)

Branded postcards for guests to send that showcases the local area

If you missed it you can catch it online at Channel 5 – The Hotel Inspector S14 E7, The Sheldon, Eastbourne.
